Who We Are

aboutallfish.com is a free educational encyclopedia of Mediterranean fish species. It is run from Cyprus by Avyerinos Kattopatis, who is responsible for the processing of personal data on this site (the data controller). You can contact the data controller at our contact form or through the Contact page.

What Data We Collect

We collect as little data as possible:

Contact form submissions: if you send us a message through the Contact page, we receive your name, email address, subject and message, together with the IP address it was sent from. We use them only to reply to you. To block spam, the form uses Google reCAPTCHA, which sends Google information about your device and how you use the page.
Advertising: the site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers and your IP address to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud. Ads are personalised to your interests only if you agree.
Statistics: Google Analytics tells us which pages are read and how visitors find the site. Where consent is required, it only uses cookies if you agree. We also use Umami, which does not use cookies and does not collect personal data.

Server logs: Cloudflare, which delivers the site and protects it from attacks, and our hosting provider may log your IP address for security purposes. We do not access or store these logs personally.

We use data only to:

Show ads, which keep the encyclopedia free
Understand which pages are useful and improve the website
Ensure the security and correct functioning of the site

Legal Basis (GDPR)

Under EU GDPR, our legal basis is consent for personalised ads and for statistics cookies, and legitimate interest for replying to contact form messages and keeping the site secure.

Your Consent

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a message from Google asks for your consent on your first visit. It is a consent management platform certified by Google and follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through Privacy & cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data.

Data is shared only with the services that run the site:

Google, for ads (AdSense), statistics (Analytics) and spam protection on the contact form (reCAPTCHA). You can read how Google uses this data on How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Cloudflare and our hosting provider, which deliver and store the website and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention

Contact form messages are stored on our server and also sent to our mailbox. The copy on our server, including your IP address, is deleted automatically 90 days after you send it. The copy in our mailbox is kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction or deletion of your data
Object to processing of your data
Request restriction of processing
Withdraw your consent at any time
Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

Children's Privacy

Our site is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
